As you can see from the photo, the Meridian has three color modes: White for optimal illumination (30 lumens) at a range of up to 100 feet, green to avoid spooking the game, and red to protect your night vision. By the way, the red light can also strobe for rescue purposes. The over-the-head strap assures you that the Meridian will ride steady on your head without slipping down. The three AA batteries (which come with the Meridian) secure at the back of your head. All in all, a smart lighting solution.
